Downloads don't recover

Im using mandriva pendrive linux. And I surf on a network that keep breaking and recovering. i.e internet goes off and then back on frequently.

Now when I start downloading any file and if the network breaks then download stops but when network turns on then downloads dont recover they just get stuck. Same is with terminal, thats why I cant download URPMI cause downloads dont recover.
Whats the problem?

Could be any number of things, but as a temp solution. If you use Firefox, "Download Them All!" is an add-on that integrates well with the firefox browser.

It installs on the right-click menu an option to use dTA! for downloading, and it does resume a broken download.

Download Them All is a good tool that you might wanna consider using. It integrates into the FF browser.

Else use a software called Download Accelerator Plus ... It's kick ass but kindda heavy on system resources though!
