downloading files to linpus linux lite
 

i am getting a box that says open with Xarchiver i then get a large box with a large amount of files,what do i do?

You've downloaded an archive (zip, rar, 7z, etc.). The large amount of files you're seeing are what's contained in the archive.

yes that we know but how to use this information to install the program .. help!

First check if the program is available through your distro's package manager. You may need to add third-party repositories to find it.

If you still can't find it, you'll need to extract the files then, from the command line, cd to the directory and run "./configure && make && make install" as the root user. Any errors that come up will indicate missing programs/libraries that you'll need to download and install.
