it would help if you told us what distro you are using, in Ubuntu, you would have to enable the universe repos in synaptic and install java from there

if it's on the eee pc, then the 'terminal' is the program called 'Konsole'. your distibution, or distro, is Xandros. i am not sure how to install java in Xandros since it is a paid distribution it should be ready to install in the repositories, just follow any help on how to install software in Xandros.

Hi,
You could use the 'help' and other information provided by the vendor. HaHa! Really, you do have all the information available to you via the 'Eee'. Spoon Off! |

Asus Eee Terminal
To start the terminal on the Asus Eee, hold down Ctrl + Alt + T at the same time.
To start the package programme from the terminal type SU and enter your password. Next type the word Synaptic. Updating software is done from the Settings Menu item To get there from any other application, click on the HOME icon , bottom left of the Easy Screen (the default one). The icon looks like a house For information on how to setup a normal KDE desktop type "Asus Eee advanced desktop" into a Google or Yahoo search, (top right of the browser window. There are plenty of advice pages/forums to choose from. I hope this helps, Tony |
