download SUSE torrent file, now how do I use the file?

What I thought I was downloading (for several hours) was an ISO file I could burn to DVD, and install. What I got was a .torrent file, that I don't know what to do with. I have tried opening the file, and get message that I do not have an application, etc. When I look for a torrent application, from what I can gather, all I am getting is another application to manage torrent downloads.

Does this file have to be converted to an ISO file somehow? What do I need to do to get something I can install with?

Thanks for any help.

It took you several hours just to download a torrent file? Just how big was this torrent file?

A torrent file is just a small file that instructs your torrent manager to download a certain file(s). You open it with a torrent manager and it then grabs the file(s) from whatever torrent hosts are available. In the case of an iso, the final file will be an iso when the torrent downloads finish.

It was over 4 gig. The SUSE 10 DVD ISO from the Novel page.
When I opened the torrent file with Azureus, it looked like it was doing as you described, starting downloading... again.
I see it is called a Bit torrent seed file (343.2KB). So if I want to go through this again, I will start the download, and this should give me the ISO file I need?

Thank for the response.
