download linux problems
 

hi all, a very new newbie with what may seem to some as a dumb question ,but cant seem to open the linux download with winzip, says its a invalid archive, so wont open it, what am i doing wrong..

Which file are you trying to open using winzip (please post the exact name)? Usually when you download Linux, you get a bootable DVD or CD image (.iso) which cannot be open by winzip.

its fron ubuntu ,9.04 desktop

Does the file not have the extension iso ?
If so you have to burn it as a iso image file and it become boot able

I asked the exact file name, but never mind. Let's assume you've downloaded the ISO image of ubuntu 9.04 LiveCD. Why did you try to open it using winzip? Do you want to mount it and explore the content of the CD?

Well, definitively winzip is not the proper tool. You can read this brief article for other possibilities.
