download Fedora Core 4 DVD iso
I tried to download Fedora Core 4 DVD iso from a couple of mirror sites.
The downloads went pretty fast but upon completion, the result was always an empty .iso file with 0 bytes size. I tried to download it to both Fat32 and NTFS partitions, same result. The images are at around 2.7 GB so the 4GB filesize limit is out of question. Any ideas? The cd images were fine though so I'm wondering if it's possible to make a DVD iso from the cd iso's. |
May be a bad file on the mirror...try other mirror.

I think I tried two mirrors but you might be right, and eventually downloaded them from the same site, will try again but i doubt.
I only need the dvd iso out of comfort so i don't have to change disks :) And also I'm curious why it didn't work. Thanks for the tip, will be back with the results. alma Quote:

You can't make a DVD ISO out of random CD ISOs but with a particular distro (sorry, can't remember which) they have a script that will do that for you. Only works with their ISOs but.
Also, I'd suggest downloading to the NTFS partition rather than the FAT32 one. NTFS doesn't suffer from the 4GB limit and it's a much better file system in every way imaginable. |
The file is > 2 G. If it went fast, that's your first clue something went wrong. Somewhere on LinuxQuestions.org I was turned on to cURL (http://curl.haxx.se/). I downloaded it for XP.
After using FTP clients, command line FTP, download managers, anything to make large downloads go better I've been wearing cURL out. If you're running Windows and downloading Linux, another got-to-have is HashCalc (http://www.slavasoft.com). |
