Don't understand what my log files are telling me.

I set up a small RHEL4 server for my team to use. The sole purpose of the server is for data storage, so the only thing I've really set up on it is Samba. Everyone on my team has an ID and the map a drive to their home directory. We then use a company specific app to run backups (I know you guys can't help me with that).

Here's the problem I'm having, within the app, I can set up a manual backup and it completes fine. Then if I schedule backups, sometimes the run and sometimes they fail. I wanted to check my logs on the server to see if they could help at all. I started with /var/logs/messages. Here's some of the latest text:

Problem is, I have no idea what any of this means or if it's even telling me that there's a server problem. It could be completely app-related (I've got them checking also). First, is there anywhere else I should look for possible error logs? Second, is there an easy way to explain what any of this means?

I know it's a pretty vague issue, thanks for any help you guys can provide

Hmm, it looks like an issue for the smb-packager team ?
missconfig on:
1. smb
2. file-permissions
3. firewall
4. ??? (have no idea)
