doing /etc/init.d/snmpd status gives "snmpd dead but pid file exists"


Hi,
i have install in CentOS by yum install net-snmp...after starting the service and doing /etc/init.d/snmpd status gives "snmpd dead but pid file exists".....i had delete the pid from /var/run and /var/lock/subsys....but again starting the service....it comes out again.....any help is greatly appriciated ....

The SNMP startup is failing. The PID lock-file gets created, but the service is not starting.

Check your log files, and correct whatever configuration error you're having, then restart the service.

1 step: check installed yum list installed | grep net-snmp
2 step: update libs yum update net-snmp-libs
3 step: update utils yum update net-snmp-utils
4 step: and finally you will be hapy - service snmpd restart
