does wine work with usb devices?

Good Day,

Does wine recognize usb devices? If so how?

Thanks

I'm not expert on this, but I'll try a partial answer:

The Operating System (Linux) deals with devices. WINE is an interface layer that provides the necessary API to Windows applications so that they can run on Linux. Thus, if an application will run on Linux/WINE, it should be able to work with any device. I can imagine that there could be exceptions, but I don't know of any.

In my first try wine didn't recognize usb device. I thought I might need some DLLs from windows?
But sure I will try again.

Thanks.

hi there,

There are a few libraries required so that Wine can read/recognise a few USB drives such as printers, scanners, etc.

Unfortunately I can't remember all of the requirements, but I built wine from source, and at the end of "configure", it should tell us if there are any programs missing for Wine to support a few devices.

I hope that helps a bit.
