does the (ene) acer internal card reader work in any linux distro ?

hello i tried mandriva and ubuntu and now im using fedora 13! im beginning to think the problem is swith acer, im sure there are people using the internal card reader in some linux distro.

if you could tell me which distro works great with the aspire one hardware.

or if you could share your code on how you got the card reader to work?

i take a lot of pictures so having the card reader work would be handy for me ,my last resort would be to go back to windows and i really dont want to do that ,so please share your code with me. hope to heara from you soon.

Could you post exactly which Aspire One you have? There's a model number on a sticker underneath the laptop. I happen to have an AO751h, and the card reader works perfectly with Ubuntu.

I am not sure whether this applies to your model or not, but it seems that in some Aspire Ones, the cards are not hot-swappable by default. Try putting in a card when the computer is off, then boot it up. If it appears, then you should see if there is a BIOS update for your laptop. A BIOS update may fix the issue.

See this page for info:

i had a look at my bios version and it says version 1.08

the thread you told me to check out says if you have Pre-BIOS v.3309

would version 1.08 be before v.3309

would you update to version 1.09 or 110?

Check Acer's website, and update to the newest BIOS for your model of laptop. That post was for a slightly different model, but I believe that the problem is the same.

Well, it may require windows to install the BIOS update. If that's a problem (like if you don't have windows installed), try something like BartPE to make a boot disc.

I've been using 9.1 netbook remix. I have a different model, but I think if you use the latest version (10.04, I believe), it'll work.

Just remember to put a SD card in before you boot it up, so that Ubuntu will recognize the card reader.

anyhow post back a code i could try to get this hot pluggable ,of course i can use a pen drive but its a hassle to carry it around when your on the go. so let me know.
