does slack use ipchains or iptables

hi people
im still pretty new here so bare with me, i was informed that the etc/rc.d/rc.firewall script was run with iptabes, but when i try to find a script to copy to that file (wich i stil have not made) it always has to types etc/iptables and etc/ipchains and all i have is ipchains in my etc directory, any info for a new learner??
also anyone know a good script that i can just copy and paste to the rc.firewall file? i i have DSL from verizon but it shows up as LAN but whatever, and im running just this one PC on slack 9.0
