Does Fedora C9 is the same thing as Fedora 9?
 

I want to use Linux distro which exactly matches my program's release notes. These notes tell, that the program is tested and compatible with

Fedora C9

But looking at the Fedora's page http://spins.fedoraproject.org/, I see only

Fedora 9, i.e. without "C".

What does "C" mean? Does Fedora C9 is the same thing as Fedora 9?

I think the release notes are not quite correct.

Fedora dumped the "core" bit of the name (I think from Fedora 7 onwards, or was it 6(?)). So the relase is called Fedora 9.

Usually people use FCx interchangeably with Fx. After FC6 there was no C and all the subsequent releases were Fedora and not Fedora core. So even if someone is referring it FC10 it is actually F10.

This is the uname result on my Fedora system:

[root@testbed ~]# uname -a
Linux testbed.inthemoon.ru 2.6.27.23-78.2.50.fc9.x86_64 #1 SMP Mon May 11 11:11:33 EDT 2009 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

i.e. "fc9" is present in official kernel name!

That could be the kernel name and that distribution name could differ from that. They have taken off C from FC and released are released as Fx. like Fedora10/11 and so on.

Be aware the support for F9 will drop in about a month (July 1?). After that there will be no official updates of any kind.
