Does Elive plays encrypted DVDs out of the box ?

If you know then plz answer that is it true that no tweaking etc like installing etc is required for this distro ?
If it is so then it will definitely be the best desktop solution for many homes.
plz answer early .

I don't believe it does, but I'm pretty sure that linuxmint does. Here is a link if you are interested. Don't download the "light" version.

Most distros do not include packages that would cause patent/copyright infringement. You could build your own LiveCD/DVD that is installable and has all of the "excluded" packages that are available from 3rd party repos.

I have used Fedora 7 and F8 to make my own Live distros that are installable to hard drive or usb drives with 3rd party packages.

If you find a major Linux distro that includes the ability to play DVD/mp3's "out of the box" you can rest assured that somewhere somebody has paid for you to have that ability to "point-click-play".

EDIT: I have a Elive "GEM" disc and will check if it can play a DVD also I recall there is "GeeXboX" less than 9MB iso that can play multimedia files.GeeXboX

EDIT 2: Yes, Elive Gem played DVD.
