.DOC -> PDF using OpenOffice.org error

i saw somwhere on this forum that i could convert my M$ word files to PDF's using OpenOffice.org

so i installed it, (its working fine)
i can view the .DOC

and as instructed i clicked on print, changed it to "print to file"
and selected PDF.

my problem, is that the .DOC was 2mb in size, the output PDF is unreadable by all my pdf readers, and is 80mb in size, surely somthing has gone horrably wrong, has any1 else ha any sucess in changing .doc's to somthing radable by linux.

even converting the .DOC to plain text would be fine, there are no pictures or any special formatting.

thanX

You can convert the file to another type by choosing save as... and choosing whichever format you want. I quite like rtf, rich text format.

Create PDFs online.

https://createpdf.adobe.com/index.pl...88?BP=IE&v=AHP

Works nicely for me. Will need to create an account and you can convert up to 5 documents to PDF with trial account.
