With my version of linux which is RH 7.3 do I have Samba

type: rpm samba -v
and it should tell you.

Try:
rpm -q samba

or:
su -
(password)
find / -name 'samba*'

or:
which samba

or:
locate samba

also:

find / -name 'smbd'

etc....

If you don't have samba installed then I recommend that you not install the samba that came on your install CD. There have been several security updates for samba. You can get the samba security updates here:

ftp://updates.redhat.com/7.3/en/os/i386/
