Unhappy DNS SETUP on RHEL 5.2

Greetings

I am new to linux.

can anyone please provide me the steps for configuring the DNS server on RHEL 5.2.

I did the DNS configuration on RHEL 4.7 it worked fine but as i see in RHEL 5.2 the named.conf file is different and i am confused.

machine ipaddress = 192.168.0.1
Domain name = testing.com

please provide me with the steps on how to edit the named.conf file and zone entries.

Your co-operation will be highly appreceated.

Regards.

When I googled "named.conf", the first match was one for RH 9: http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/l...namedconf.html While that is an older version, it seems to be pretty much what I am familiar with, but I only scanned over it. What version of BIND are you using (named -v)?

Also, I noticed this similar post: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...-issue-754135/ which seems to imply a firewall issue on upgrade.

1) update to rhel 5.5 that is the current
2) call your paid for tech support
--- if this is a "free" unsupported - NOT updated version

then install CentOS and update.

Chances are that the original poster could be a student. In that case, your guidance (John) could only be enjoyed as a joke.
