Distro powerbook dual boot

Looking for a distro that will allow me to dual boot os x and another nix.

I basically just need acces to Perl and BioPerl asap. I've tried every which way to get BioPerl on Tiger (Cpan, build from source, binaries, fink) but due to issues with dependencies and virtual shlibs I am not able to get BioPerl on OS X (even with X code and root access).

I've decided just having a linux distro installed for all of my Bioinformatics programming would be less stress for me.

Anyone recommend a painless distro that will come with perl loaded and possibly even BioPerl (or maybe to select as a package during install); or just a quick way of accomplishing this.

- Thanks

Since it's just for the short term you need it, I would suggest you run GNU/Linux from a LiveCD, with a small partition for your settings (or use an existing partition if the FS is ok). Ubuntu springs to mind--I don't know if it has perl, though, but it shouldn't be too much of a hassle installing it (i.e. it should be in the repositories).
