LinuxQuestions.org - Distro on USB Flash using YUMI getting no medium found/...no live file system...

My first question on the site, I hope this is the appropriate
forum and I'm a true newbie in linux and with my goal right now to get a bootable USB drive running with a distro that uses TESTDISK/with photorec for file recovery from a Win 7 load.

I am using YUMI to make a multiple boot USB Flash - Thumb drive.
Overall it works fine, I have got it set up on various thumb drives and it works with various distributions and apps that are listed on it's list., I can boot and run either using simulation of Mobalive or real boot..I have downloaded all the ISO's from the web sites and load them into YUMI from my machine.
My main goal now is to be able to use TESTDISK/PHOTOREC from a usb flash drive/ bootable. and the ones I have are not working but I really would like to get
CAINE working.

I have a list from he GCsecurity site of the distros that have TESTDISK. At the moment with the ones I have downloaded and been able to run I cannot seem to find Testdisk.

But on some of them that I need for recovery-undelete purposes (such as CAINE) I get an error that I have seen in other posts here and on the web:

/init: Line 3: can't open /dev/sr0: no medium found

and eventually

(initramfs) Unable to find a medium containing a live file system

The CAINE first page will come up, but when I click on the first option , the boot, it eventually returns the error.
I need the page where I can access TESTDISK.

I have not checked the MD5 hash (but for sake of argument let's say it's OK) I have tried it on multiple thumb drives, same Vista machine, I'm getting the current ISO version off the web site and get the same errors both when I load one of them on the USB with Unetbootin and one on YUMI and when I use the Mobalive simulator or do a real boot. I have seen a post where I just hit enter at the messages and eventually it will work / it hasn't. Saw a message to remove the
floppy boot option from BIOS, I don't have a floppy nor the option. I took NIC/ PXE boot out of the options. No joy.

Right now I don't have the ability or the time for the learning curve to really understand how to use get into Linux and find the answer, but if there is simple solution to get into the GRUB or some of those other strange sounding linux terms, whatever contols the medium problem and fix it I'm game. I am new to Linux and don't even have a feel as to the process of booting from the flash drive, or where to look to find the answer in the code.
I have looked on the pendrivelinux site and not seen an answer to this specific problem.

Again I am not a Linux person but quite perplexed (and some of the people are too that have told me about and helped with YUMI) that such a simple process of running YUMI, getting the distro, and booting, causes this vauge / annoying error. I know this is sketchy but any help for apparently a well known error is welcomed.
