distro message

for example when I put an invalid address my apache server will return HTTP_NOT_FOUND.html.var... on the bottom.html will say my distro message (Red Hat 9.0) how can I change this message ? I have to recompile my kernel ?
I found in /var/www/error/include/bottom.html a variable SERVER_SOFTWARE. How can I modyfy this ?
Thank you !

Look into the file bottom.html source. I don't know what it says exactly in your RH, but the string showing the info you don't want to show should be easy to find. Just remove it or comment out. The file is very short, so it should be fast, even trying with different pieces of it.

Code:
</dd></dl><dl><dd>
<!--#include virtual="../contact.html.var" -->
</dd></dl>

<h2>Error <!--#echo encoding="none" var="REDIRECT_STATUS" --></h2>
<dl>
<dd>
<address>
  <a href="/"><!--#echo encoding="url" var="SERVER_NAME" --></a>
  <br />
  <!--#config timefmt="%c" -->
  <small><!--#echo encoding="none" var="DATE_LOCAL" --></small>
  <br />
  <small><!--#echo encoding="none" var="SERVER_SOFTWARE" --></small>
</address>
</dd>
</dl>
</body>
</html>
but how can I change exactly the SERVER_SOFTWARE variable

Well, the easiers method would be to delete the line with SERVER_SOFTWARE and write your own, writing exactly what you'd like to show to others.
