distortion while playing music
hay! i'm running kubuntu hedgehog and i have a terrible sound. I hear distortion while playing music. Not much, but it's annoying. I hear it everywhere, while booting kde, playing mp3, ...
Someone an idea where it is going wrong? i use onboard sound, my mobo is an intel d865perl (http://www.intel.com/products/mother...perl/index.htm) and it's using SoundMAX 4 XL with AudioESP audio subsystem* using the Analog Devices AD1985 codec* (right from the site ;)) when i look with the gui, controlcenter, i see kubuntu detects his soundsystem automaticly. how can i adjust sound settings on command line? i have totally no idea... :( thx! |
i think you'll probably want to drop the PCI channel level using KMix - it should be available in the system tray to the bottom-right of your desktop (small 'loudspeaker' icon), or failing that, from the K Menu.
I've noticed this before myself - if the level is set too high, you'll hear clipping / distortion. |
kevin, great job!
now, i hear great music, clean as hell.. thx a lot, i was afraid i blew up my new 5.1 speakerset! :-) |
