Display Settings with n'Vidia card

I have RedHat 9 installed but can't seem to get the display resolution set. When I set it to anything better than 800X600 from System Settings > Display and then reboot it always default to what appears to be 640X480. Seems to make difference if I change it from the user or root. Either way nothing happens.

n'Vidia GE Force 4 128 MB ..RedHat Generic nv driver

I also found that RedHat does not recognize my primary n'vidia ehternet device. How can I fix this?

you should edit the XF86Config file manually!!

usually it's in /etc/X11/

on slackware that Display wizard usually fubar's everything.

I edited the F86config and screwed it up. Now when I boot up I have no GUI at all. what commands do I use to edit the f86config from a terminal so I can see if I can undo.

thanks
