Display resolution
 
Hi all,

Installed RHEL 5 and found the resolution 1240x8... as the highest available resolution values. But I am able to increase the resolution not more than 1024x768 pixels. If I select, 1240x8... pixels and then "OK" a message will come like I have to restart the X window system to take effect for the changes made. I tried that and rebooting the machine as well. Nothing worked out and the resolution showed to 1024x768 as usual. Not able to increase more than this value even though 1240x8.. pixel value is available in the DISPLAY option.

Suggestions and replies are appreciated.

What graphics card do you have? Because you may need to install the appropriated drivers in order to get the resolution you desire ;)

My motherboard is INTEL 865 GBF graphics inbuilt.

If you are running RHEL shouldn't you have support from Red Hat on this?

This is an OS installed from a copy given by Red Hat for study purpose and the source is the Red Hat Certification training program's material.
