Display

I just installed Linux Mandrake 8.0 on my Dell Inspiron 8000 laptop. Everything looks like it is running fine except for the Display. When you go into Linux the screen has a bar down middle which splits the screen in half that is about 3 inches wide. On either side of the bar....its kind of fuzzy. You can move things around but you cannot see anything that is behind the bar. Been searching and i am stuck.

Running ATI Rage Mobility Video Card.
15" SVGA screen
256 RAM
20 GIG hard drive

Any help would be appreciated.

Thans
