In BIOS, I set my cd drive to be the primary device, I'm trying to install mandrake 10.1. This is my first time using linux EVER. When it try's to boot the disk, it tells me that it can't and I need to put in a system disk. I put the first part of mandrake on 1 disk, I just finished downloading disc 2. please help.
First steps, try booting with a different CD first to make sure you've got your CD boot setup configured properly. If you've got Windoze 2000 or XP, they should boot fine off the CD. If they boot ok, then you've got a duff Mandrake CD.
Distribution: Mainly Debian and Mepis, but also Slackware, Arch and Mandriva

Hi
Did you burn the ISO as data by any chance? (so that there is just a copy of the file on the CD) An ISO is an exact copy of a CD, so you have to burn it accordingly. (The procedure will vary, but look for an ISO/image option or similar)
