Disk Error

When I setup up my computer that was going to have slackware installed on it, I just dug thru my box of spare parts. When I plugged it all in, I got a disk error message and it said F1 to boot. I had the boot disk in, so it brought me to the slackware install. I partitioned the HD so I figured the disk error would just go away. Once I finished the install (it installed successfully) it asked me to reboot. Once I did, I got the same disk error. Then it would say "no system of disk error, replace and press enter" The jumper settings are correct on the HD. Any ideas?

you _did_ install a bootloader, right???

are you sure it's booting to the hard disk and not to an empty cd-rom drive???
