Disk burning issue
newbie here. i'm having a little trouble trying to burn Ubuntu onto a disk and installing it. i d/led the 6.10 version and i try using PowerISO to burn it to a cd. i extract all the files in the winrar and put it in a folder, then i add all the files in folder into PowerISO. it'll burn fine, but when i go to install Ubuntu, it won't pick up. i know my burner works because i previously burnt Berry Linux onto a cd and i could get that running. anyone who uses PowerISO have any advice? any at all would be appreciated!

I think that you are making the process much harder on yourself than it should be. When you download an ISO image for a Linux distribution you do not have to do anything to it. There is no rar extraction. I've never used PowerISO. I presume that you are doing this on a Windows machine.
Use Nero if you are using a Windows machine. It has an option for burning bootable ISO images onto CDs. So you only have to do this: Download the Ubuntu ISO image. Use Nero to burn the image onto a CD. That's all there is to it. |
ok, i got a working copy. d/led it from the ubuntu site. i guess that the d/l i had originally didn't have some of the files that i needed. i'm gonna take it home and play with it now. thanks for your help, stress junkie. =)
