Discovering your IP address for the internet

Hi guys!
How do you find out what IP address you are broadcasting to the internet? It only became an issue when I came to type it at broadbandreports dot com and realized I didn't know it!!

My ISP provides Dynamic IPs btw.

I am running mandrake 9.1 with an alcatel 330 ADSL modem.

Thanks for your help, and keep up the good work guys!!!

Several options:
www.whatismyip.com
www.zoneedit.com/checkip.html

FYI:
I'd not type in my IP to anyone that I don't trust very much, though it is dynamic, it's just usually not a great idea to broadcast it.

Cool

What about "ifconfig"?

ifconfig works, but only if you are directly connected. If you are behind a router or some other NAT setup, you will get your Private IP from ifconfig.

You can also run traces and things, but the easiest way I've found that seems to be consistent (for those with/without NAT) is the zoneedit.com or whatismyip.com pages.

Cool

<addition>
Also, for those who are unaware of "eth0" or their connection devices, and have simply "made linux work" they will have no idea 1:
What ifconfig is;
2:
where to type it in at;
or 3:
how to read it

;)

Cool
