i used redhat. now i use caldera but in both versions certain things are locked like access to the master boot record even though i am signed in as the root why is this happening and how can i disable it

Locking of masterboot record is an implementation of your BIOS. This feature is a way of protecting the system from being infected by boot-sector viruses. Try changing it in BIOS setup.
