Directory Order Question

Somehow, I have flipped a bit somehwere, and some directories, particularly those shred through SAMBA, have flipped their sorting.

Can someone give me a quick point to where those things are configured?

I also want to hide .dot files for some shared directory trees.

Thanks.

What exactly does "flipped their sorting" mean?

What command are you using to determine the order?

What does "alias ls" return?

alias ls returns no alias.

Display is alpha sort reversed in some directories when viewed via SAMBA or using the dolphin utility. (Slackware 13.1)

There's no such thing as "viewed via SAMBA". Again the
question: other than in dolphin, how do you asses how
things are being sorted?
