Question Digital Interfaces! Help Me!


HI all, just a quick panic email....can anyone help me? i need information on digital interfaces (even real basic stuff - like what they are!!) connectivity, the distribution of audio signals and real time issues. i need history, problems etc etc for a sucky uni project...any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Put this in google to get you started 's/pdif' (without quotes) it stands for sony/philips digital interface.

cheers for that, should help loads! any ideas of other types of digital interfaces? apart from MIDI, what about USBs or Firewire? do they count??

Your original question implies that you want audio related interfaces.

If you are just looking at a standard PC then all but the analog audio in/outputs interfaces are digital. After all a modern computer is a digital device.
The only slightly tricky one is the joystick which contains both analog and digital connections.

You need to be a bit more specific on what type and use for the digital interfaces.

cool, im onto things about SPDIF and AES/EBU. any idea about the distribution of audio signals? cheers so far!
