apart from both starting with a Y, they really have very little on common at all. Yast (Yet Another Setup Tool) is a control panel, Yum (Yellowdog Updater Modified) is for installing software from online repositories.

YaST is a System Manager from which you can install applications among other things. Yum is a updates manager from which you install new software in your system.

Is that a homework question?
