Question Difference


Cna any one explain me the difference btween host name and website name

Well typically a website is www.something.tld and is accessed via a webserver on port 80 or 443.

A hostname belongs to a computer, and would typically have the form hostname.something.tld. The hostname bears no relation to any ports and may be associated with any number of services

no difference. a website is a host running a webserver.

NAME
       hostname - show or set the system's host name
       domainname - show or set the system's NIS/YP domain name
       dnsdomainname - show the system's DNS domain name
       nisdomainname - show or set system's NIS/YP domain name
       ypdomainname - show or set the system's NIS/YP domain name
       nodename - show or set the system's DECnet node name
