did not find any option for root password for root user in ubuntu 9.10
 
hi...i am a novish for ubuntu...i used opensuse 11.1 ...there is option for root user to create password for root...but for ubuntu i did not find anything like that...so how can i create root password....or how can i use root..kindly help me in this regards

The root account in Ubuntu is locked as they consider it to be more secure that way.

Instead, you use the command sudo and gksudo to run commands.
