dial on demand

Hi I am using wvdial to connect a dial up modem to have access to internet and the problem is that wvdial does not go to background until I press ctrl+Z. Is there any way which would allow me to start wvdial in the background so that I can start it from shell script without hanging up for other commands.

putting an & at the end of the command will force it into background.

to suppress further output, you can also use
Code:
wvdial & disown
