dg965ry dg965ryck opensuse very slow after installation

After I installed opensuse 10.2 it takes over 2 Days to finish installation. I installed it on a intel dg965ryck mainboard with 4GB memory and sata drive with 160GB. After compiling several kernels from kernel.org and doing other things like biosupdates, I tried out the kernel parameter mem=4GB and it works now properly on 32 bit and 64 bit opensuse 10.2 system.

this is clearly neither feedback nor a suggestion about linuxquestions.org. can i ask why you chose to post in this forum? was it just as it is the first in the list? this thread will shortly be moved to a more suitable location.
