devilspie configuration doesn't work with most programs.

I'm trying so get a few programs running on my second display using devilspie.

I have the configuration file "test.ds" under ~/.devilspie, and it looks like this:

Code:
( if
( begin
(contains (application_name) "nautilus" )
)
( begin
( set_viewport 2 )
( println "match" )
)
)
This config only works with "nautilus", "gnome-terminal" and "gedit". Why is that? I've tried other programs like "emulatonstation", "chromium", "google-chrome", "firefox", and "kodi", but they only open on my first monitor.
Any help on how to get these opening in the right monitor?

i assume you changed the application_name accordingly for those other programs.

you have to make sure that devilspie actually recognizes them under that name.

one way is to issue the command "xprop" from a terminal - the cursor should change to a crosshair now.
click it on the application you want to target.
the resulting output will tell you if you got the application_name right, and what other identifiers you can use (of course you have to read up on devilspie's documentation).
