dev/audio is missing... help!

i've just installed redhat 7.1 on my laptop, which went like a breeze when i run 'sndconfig' my yamaha opl3-sax sound card is detected, but there is an error opening /dev/audio. sure enough /dev/audio is missing. on shutdown i get 'module sound-service not found'. any pointers on how to install this module? cheers guys!

Do you have a /dev/audio* entry in dev/?
If you do then its probably a permission problem, try doing a "chmod 666 /dev/audio*" as root. Its might be a good idea to do the same for /dev/dsp*, /dev/mixer* and /dev/sequencer* as well.
