Desktop settings

I'm using Fedora Core 2. At start up i click on the settings option and Genome is checked as the default desktop and everytime i have to check the KDE radio button before i log on cuz i use KDE. I was trying to find out how to change the setting for good but couldn't do so. Some on please tell me!

First of all, it's GNOME, not Genome, and I know oh so very little about RH/Fedora, because I don't like anything that has ever come out of RedHat.

How to use the Fedora Core "Desktop Switching Tool"

While in the Gnome desktop, click on the Red Hat -> Preferences -> Desktop Switching Tool.

Desktop Switching Tool is a one-window tool that let's you choose what the default desktop will be.

It is curious that you don't already know this. When ever I choose a non-default desktop at login, I get a dialog box that tells me that the changed desktop will last only for the current session and gives the same instruction I gave above to make it permanent.

Hope this is helpful.

Desktop Switching Tool

Sid,

I apologize. I misled you in my previous post.

All that happens in Fedora Core if you ask for a non-default desktop, is that it tells you that the change will be for the current session ONLY and that if you want to make the change permanent, use the "Desktop Switching Tool". It does not tell you how to find the "Desktop Switching Tool".

However, Red Hat -> Preferences-> Desktop Switching Tool is the answer to that question.

Thank you!

Thanks a lot! I usually interact with the command line more but 'desktop switching tool' was what i was looking for exactly! Sometimes you don't see the things that are right in front of you!
