Desktop net staus

Hello,

I'm new and have just installed a live CD to hda, followed by a synaptic to get FF v1.5 upgrade.

My net connection is often quite flacky, is there an app that will display a 'status' icon in the panel? if so, how can I install it if it does not appear in the (PCLOS) repository?
Am looking for something similar to the Tiscali triangle as my modem is normally out of sight.

PS tried searching so hope you can help.

J.

Search for "network". There were three or four on the first page. Not sure, but it looked like most of them might have to install from source...

Or try this one:

Thanks, those look interesting.
I will probably stuggle as I have yet to compile anything but this could be an ideal exercise.

It does sound like a good exercise, if you do run into any trouble just post back with an error message. With compiler errors, it's best to post the last 20 lines or so because the last line usually isn't very helpful
