Is docky only able to work with the gnome desktop or can it work with KDE?
For that matter, can kwin work with the gnome desktop?

first question: yes, but wouldn't that be like adding another knife blade to a 75-piece swiss army knife?
second question: both are highly specialized desktop environments, and exchanging one's window manager with the other's will lead to rough edges and reduced functionality, but it should work (i have never tried it though).

GDM can launch both Gnome and KDE
also
KDM can launch both Gnome and KDE

i have done it in the past
