Desktop keeps on blacking out every 15 mins
 

My Xandros desktop keeps on refreshing (or it seems like it) every 15 mins or so. It blacks out for 3 secs and then returns to normal. It's strange. It's been happening for a long time and i haven't found a fix.

It's just strange. It sometimes even frightens me because i think i am about to lose work...

If i could just find a fix...

Specs:

Video Card: ATi Radeon 7000 - 64mb

Monitor: Philips 105s

CPU: Intel Pentium III 667mHz

RAM: 384mb

And my hardware is 4 years old. (Except the Video Card, It's only 6 mths old)

Do you have a screensaver (mis)configured?

If you r running KDE , it may be the problem in "Power Management". You can disable that using KDE control center ->Apearence & Thems->Screen Saver , then clear the check box stating "Make aware of power management".

This might solve your problem, at least it solved for my pc!

You may also take a look at your BIOS settings to see if there is some screen blanking power saver feature that can be disabled.

My laptop has an automatic screen blanking function that kicks in at 10 minutes idle time. Sadly there is no way to disable it through the bios settings. Sometimes you just have to live with these little things. :)

My screensaver isn't misconfigured, i am about to try to select "Make aware of Power Management", and my BIOS doesn't provide a option to a 'screen blanking' section.

I'll just keep on trying...
