Desktop Effects (linux-restricted-modules-2.6.22-14-generic)

[Log in to get rid of this advertisement]
Hello everyone!

Yesterday I tried to turn my desktop effects on and I got this error: Desktop effects could not be enabled.

Then a friend of mine told me to check "Restricted drivers manager" so I could turn the drivers on, I tried to open it and i got this error:

You need to install the package

linux-restricted-modules-2.6.22-14-generic

for this program to work.

Does anyone know how to fix this? I'm very eager to get my desktop effects enabled!! plz help!

Thanks in advance,

Nis2k.

You didn't specify what operating system (or distribution, if you like) you are using, but I suppose you are talking about one of the latest Ubuntus (because of the Restricted drivers manager). So..did you try installing the package it wants?
Code:
sudo apt-get install linux-restricted-modules-2.6.22-14-generic
or trough Synaptic.

Have you done any system upgrades, that may have caused that? Graphics card driver upgrades?

This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
