desktop display

Hi,
I logged on red hat 4.2 as a root user.after that we set
DISPLAY and xhost.then we logged on oracle user
we tried to install.First time we can able to install that but subsquently we got the errors DISPLAY variable not set properly.

If we login as a oracle user,we can able to install it.but we got GCONF error.MENU bat is missing and Display color is fade..

How to install the software from root user.

You should do the following as root user:
Code:
xhost +localhost
su oracle
export DISPLAY=localhost:0.0
...
