desktop and scripts

I want an icon on the desktop that turns on and off the internet connection.

If I SU ROOT in terminal screen and type this....

/etc/rc.d/init.d/speedtouch start

It eventually starts OK.

I think the problem is how do I answer the question to SU ROOT password?

Any help most welcomed.

Alan

I don't want it running all the time, only when I want it to.

You would probably be better off using SUDO. Check out "man sudo" for details.

I had a look at man sudo. But I am very confused.

Can someone give me some idea how to do it in a script file as per my first post?

Thanks Alan

You could use kdesu or gksu, these would pop up a box for you to type the password in. I think there are other similar programs as well.

I have it working with kdesu, which prompts for the password. It now runs from the desktop.

Many thanks for your help
