Dell Vostro 1320 webcam driver problem
hello
i have ubuntu 10.04 desktop edition 32 bit on a Dell Vostro 1320 laptop. i have a problem with the integrated webcam driver. somehow i managed to operate the video but the built in microphone still does not work. i am new to ubuntu so if someone can help me in step by step on how to get the webcam to work properly. p.s. i tried to install gspca, maybe that's how the video works but i got some errors on the way help would be very appreciated.. thank you |
gspca Not! your driver. your driver is sn9c102 it does video only for your Sonix and it is using it. It is a v4l2 driver that is why it worked out of the box.
This should get your sound and microphone working. Make sure you have alsa utility installed open a terminal or console type Quote:

now press the F4 key use your arrow keys go to the right and for input press the up key or down key to mic or MC. then left arrow to capture left and right turn them up the up key. turn the mic boost up. press F5 and and turn up the mic. if you see master or pcm turn them up. I know there is a GUI (graphical user interface) program for all this but with over a hundred different distros it is much easier this way. after this is set up use the little speaker icon for volume |
thank you for the response. i tried to install v4l2 driver and the rest of what you wrote. i was still unable to operate the mic.. thanks though..

yours is a sound issue. In the linux world all most all of the drivers are already in the kernel. Quote:
