Unhappy Dell optiplex GX270

I am a very new linux user and I just bought a new computer,Dell optiplex GX270,I installed mandrake linux 10 and everything was fine during installation. i.e I was not prompted for any hardware incomatibility. but after rebooting my pc and trying to run my linux for the first time i just saw an ugly screen and im not able to see the logon screen. The problem i think is my linux does not recognize the video driver...so is there any solution plz...i mean can i find any driver so that i will be running my linux desktiop

its worth a shot, i had redhat linux 9 installed on a dell optiplex (dont ask me for model numbers, casue it was at school), and it ran fine without any problems whatsoever

and redhat 9 and fedora core 2 are (more or less) the same thing, just fedora is a newer version

i have no clue, i poked around dells website and found drivers for a dell p1230 display device, is this the display device in your computer?

http://support.dell.com/support/down...6045&devlib=22

other than that, i think your kinda out of luck

in fedora, you can try running
/usr/bin/system-config-xfree86 --reconfig

see if that will bring up a config box, if it does, then set it to 640x480 and lowest color settings, then restart your computer and see what happens

Thanks for ur information.
As u said that im not lucky coz i was not able to find any pc in my office having p1230 display adapter.Mine is 700B...
Also I was not able to find the file system-config-xfree86 in the /usr/bin directory but i tried to run the /usr/bin/system-config-display and i found the following error message:
Trying with card :intel 865
Error,cannot start X server.

Thanks
