Question dell mini with no cd rom to upgrade with


I get this error when trying to update ubuntu8.4
using synaptic package manager
E:dpkg was interupted, you must manually run dpkg= configure -a' to correct problem.
E: _cache-> open () failed, please report

iTRIED try opening terminal and typing in this command:

sudo update-manager -d

The same error occurs with this.

You might want to try what it suggests: run "dpkg configure -a"

Specifically:
Quote:
sudo dpkg --configure -a
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
