Dell Mini-9 with NTLDR problem.

I had to replace the "broken" SSD and fitted "Run Core Prov IV Pata". This apparently installed correctly.
I then created a live pendrive using Pendrive linux.com and loaded Ubuntu 11.04 onto the SSD.
OK so far. Linux appeared and various tests worked.
Restarted the netbook, without the pendrive and got the message:
"NTLDR is missing
Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart"
The pendrive formatting is FAT32 not NTFS.

I do not understand why there is any reference to NTLDR. Does Linux need it?

Can something have happened to the BIOS which used to be OK?
Comments invited.

Not that I know of. Sounds like Windows Master Boot record is on that drive somehow,

I don't have A Dell Mini but EEEPC 900 instead. I know in the bios on my Netbook there is a option in the bios for operation installation that gives a choice of "start" or "finished".

On Mine I had to change it from finshed to start. Maybe something like that is causing the

or you have not yet installed Ubuntu 11 correctly yet on the runcore. You can post in your next post a terminal readout while running Ubuntu Pendrive you made

Code:
sudo fdisk -l
-l is lower case L

to show members how your install looks on your runcore SSD drive you say you installed to.
