dell inspiron sensitive scroll wheel problem

The scroll bars on my touchpad on my laptop are making X almost non-usable. They are VERY sensitive and any contact iwth them emualtes me hitting the enter key, so as you can imagine ill be scrolling across the screen and the mouse jumps all over the place, or typing an email in firefox and the cursor jumps to wherever the mouse happens to be pointing.

I googled alot about this and the problem seems to happen all across windows and linux and in windows there is an easy way to disable the scroll bars w/o disabling the whole touchpad ( which is what I want ) but I cant seem to figure out how to do this with Xorg.

I changed a bunch of changes to xorg.conf and none did the trick. I looked in the bios to see if they registered as seperate devices with no luck.

I really want to keep using my touchpad, but just have those two scrollbars disabled so hopefully someone has an idea how to do this b/c i cant figure it out.

Thanks
