My Dell Dimension 4700 has fun flawlessly with Linux. I have maxed out the RAM at 4GB.

Ladyslipper57, I would strongly suggest that you increase the RAM in that machine. According to the Dell website, it can accept up to 2GB.

I still have a Dell 2400 with Rambus ram in it. Cost a ton to upgrade back when.

That system should run many of the light weight 32 bit distro's.

I played a lot with older distro's on it. Runs BeOS great.

Think there was a bios update for some silly reason I needed. Doubt you should attempt it.

The system will only boot to either CD or DVD by the way. The original CD reader won't read burned CD's unless they are burned at the very slowest speed and best quality disc usually. It won't read CD-rw's worth a hoot. To get a dvd to boot you have to remove data cable to cd drive.
